Proof of age of the child by birth certificate is required for all new student registrations (schools will make a photocopy). To ensure the child being registered qualifies for Ministry of Education funding, the biological parents/legal guardians’ status and the biological parents/legal guardians’ residency need to be established. Schools may register the child providing the following are established:

Notification if the child has attended school in the Abbotsford School District in the past OR is coming from another school district OR if there is a sibling who has already been attending school in the school district.
You will also need to provide your child's Care Card and other required documents as determined by the school.
If you are from another country and are the biological parent/legal guardian of the child but are not a Canadian Citizen by birth or by naturalization (obtained citizenship) please visit the tab below for registration procedures.
New to Canada Registration information
If you would like assistance with school registration you may contact the Settlement Workers in Schools program (SWIS) program at Archway Community Services. SWIS is a free service for newcomers to Canada. You can reach them at 604-217-4584 or email: inder.singh@archway.ca. They can provide a translator to assist you at registration.
There are no set deadlines for enrolling your child in any one of the District's schools, although please note the following:
If your child currently attends grade 5 in Aberdeen Elementary, Blue Jay Elementary, Bradner Elementary, Dave Kandal Elementary, Harry Sayers Elementary, Mt. Lehman Elementary or Ross Elementary and you live in our catchment area, then your child is automatically registered at our school for September. No registration is required to be completed.

School Bus online registration for the 2024-25 school year will open on May 6th and registration will run until August 1st. From August 2 to September 30, we will be building routes and adjusting runs, as a result bus registration will be closed during that time and will re-open October 1st. All students need to be registered for bussing annually.
To register online, please fill out the Abbotsford School District Bus Registration. Please note: Be sure you have child's "Pupil Number" to register. You can call us to retrieve the number.
