REGISTRATION INFORMATION

Registration Process

  1. Use our School Locator to determine where your neighbourhood school is located.
  2. Please click on this link to access and download AP 336-1 - Student Registration Form or you can download our full (fillable) school REGISTRATION PACKAGE.
  3. Once it is filled out, contact us to complete the registration process: Email to eugenereimer@abbyschools.ca or call 604-504-5343 during office hours.

Documents for Registering

Proof of age of the child by birth certificate is required for all new student registrations (schools will make a photocopy).  To ensure the child being registered qualifies for Ministry of Education funding, the biological parents/legal guardians’ status and the biological parents/legal guardians’ residency need to be established.  Schools may register the child providing the following are established:

PART ONE: Required documentation:

  1. Photo identification for the parent/guardian, such as driver’s licence, passport, Photo BC Services Card, or BCID card.
  2. Evidence of guardianship (as shown on the child’s long-form birth certificate or other appropriate legal documentation, such as a landed immigrant document or guardianship order).
  3. Evidence of birth date for the student (e.g., birth certificate or passport)

PART TWO: Evidence of primary residence for the parent/guardian in British Columbia

  1. One primary source of current-dated documentation showing the address of residence with the name of the parent/guardian. **(e.g., Utility bill (electricity, gas), Canada Revenue Agency documents, BC Medical Services Plan invoice/statement)
  2. One secondary source current-dated document showing the address of residence with the name of the parent/guardian. **(internet service for the address, Subject-Free Home Purchase contract, Insurance statements or policies, Health documents (medical reports or letters), Employment pay slips).
     

Notification if the child has attended school in the Abbotsford School District in the past OR is coming from another school district OR if there is a sibling who has already been attending school in the school district.  

You will also need to provide your child's Care Card and other required documents as determined by the school.

New to Canada?

If you are from another country and are the biological parent/legal guardian of the child but are not a Canadian Citizen by birth or by naturalization (obtained citizenship) please visit the tab below for registration procedures.

New to Canada Registration information

If you would like assistance with school registration you may contact the Settlement Workers in Schools program (SWIS) program at Archway Community Services. SWIS is a free service for newcomers to Canada. You can reach them at 604-217-4584 or email: inder.singh@archway.ca.  They can provide a translator to assist you at registration.  

Registration Dates

There are no set deadlines for enrolling your child in any one of the District's schools, although please note the following:     

  • New to the district?   2025-2026 Registration for grades 1-12 commences Monday, February 3rd, 2025.
  • New to the district during the school year?  Please stop by the school in your catchment area at any time during the school day to register or email your registration information to eugenereimer@abbyschools.ca.

Grade 6 Feeder School Student Registration

If your child currently attends grade 5 in Aberdeen Elementary, Blue Jay Elementary, Bradner Elementary, Dave Kandal Elementary, Harry Sayers Elementary, Mt. Lehman Elementary or Ross Elementary and you live in our catchment area, then your child is automatically registered at our school for September.  No registration is required to be completed.

Registration Priority Order

According to Abbotsford School District policy, the following priorities are used to determine the acceptance of students in a particular school:  

  1. Catchment area students who attended the school during the previous school year
  2. New catchment area students
  3. Non-catchment area students who attended the school during the previous school year
  4. New non-catchment area students (in-district)
  5. Non-school district students

School Bus Information

School Bus online registration for the 2024-25 school year will open on May 6th and registration will run until August 1st.  From August 2 to September 30, we will be building routes and adjusting runs, as a result bus registration will be closed during that time and will re-open October 1st.  All students need to be registered for bussing annually.

To register online, please fill out the Abbotsford School District Bus Registration.  Please note:  Be sure you have child's "Pupil Number" to register.  You can call us to retrieve the number.
